The Spanish Colonial Kitchen
10 a.m. – 3 p.m. on March 10, May 12, and October 27, 2018
at Fort Matanzas

Period re-enactors demonstrate how the Spanish Colonial kitchen
was influenced by the many cultures that created St. Augustine.

Fort Matanzas presents a free Living History Day on the topic, “Cultural Influences in the Spanish Colonial Kitchen,” on select Saturdays in 2018: March 10, May 12, and October 27, 2018, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Re-enactors dressed as Spanish colonial women will describe the life of a typical woman in St. Augustine during Spanish colonial times and demonstrate how foods from three different cultures (Native American, African, and Spanish) combined to create a unique new cuisine in 1740s colonial Spanish Florida.
