If you’ve ever been to Florida (St. Augustine in particular) you have probably heard of the name Gamble Rogers, the singer, songwriter and story teller. Gamble Rogers has given inspiration to many singers such as Jimmy Buffett and showed them how to better tell their stories through music. Attributed for giving so much to the world of music Gamble Rogers gave much more back to his community and the great state of Florida. In fact, Gamble Rogers gave his last breath trying to save the life of a man drowning at Flagler Beach where in the end, the ocean took both of their lives. The annual Gamble Rogers Fest features over 50 musical acts from all over the nation. St. Augustine’s own Colonial Quarter will be the venue of this great musical event dedicated to remembering this great musical legend on April 29-May 1st. Cash prizes will be given out at the “I remember Gamble” contest on May 1st starting at $500, $250 and $100. Tickets are $15 and are good for both days. Tickets are available online and locally at Music Matters (196 SR 312), Simple Gestures (4 White Street), and the Bead Chick (78 San Marco Avenue. Advanced ticket holders are eligible to win a getaway to Asheville, NC. Only advance ticket purchasers will be entered into this raffle.
