St. Augustine Easter Parade 2017
The St. Augustine Easter Parade is a must see for many reasons. Where else can you see Star Wars Storm Troopers and the Easter bunny in a convertible? The answer is the St. Augustine Easter Parade or the Parada De Los Caballos y Coches (Parade of Horses and Carriages) on Easter Sunday. The royal family will be leading the parade and following will be clowns, pirates, marching bands, horse and carriages to name a few. The horses will be dawning decorative hats of the highest four legged fashion. The parade begins at 3:00 pm north of the Mission of Nombre de Dios, goes south on San Marco Ave., all the way along the Bayfront on Avenida Menendez. The parade will finish at the Plaza de la Constitucion where trophies will be handed out at April 16th, 2017 4:00 pm. This year’s parade will have two grand marshals this year, both NFL place kickers who attended high school here in St. Augustine. Cairo Santos graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy and now plays for the Kansas City Chiefs. Caleb Sturgis, who graduated from St. Augustine High School, is now the place kicker for the Philadelphia Eagles. Cairo and Caleb will both remain at the Visitor Information Center after the parade to sign autographs.
