A perfect southern evening would have to include moonlight, romantic fashions, and the scent of flowers floating on the sultry air. On Saturday, November 4, the Junior Service League of St Augustine will be hosting just such a night. The black-tie affair “Moonlight and Magnolias” will be held at the Fountain of Youth waterfront from 5:30 pm – 10:30 pm.
The Junior Service League will charm and feed you as only southern women can, with traditional southern food, and drinks including champagne and a signature cocktail. Sweet City Cupcakes will supply sumptuous desserts. You will sip, dine, and dance lit by candles and twinkling lights. Even your ears will be beguiled: a string quartet will accompany cocktail hour, and after dinner a DJ will get your feet moving.
The Junior Service League was formed 50 years ago with the mission of helping sustain and preserve the St Augustine Lighthouse. Since then the organization has grown, and “Moonlight and Magnolias” will benefit ten local and national charities, including the Kids Bridge Supervised Visitation Center and the Boys and Girls Club. Tickets are $125 and are available here.
After an evening of enchantment, come on back to Carriage Way Bed and Breakfast. We’re pretty charming, ourselves. Between the porch swing on the upstairs veranda, our antique-laden rooms and our splendid breakfasts, we’ve got your southern charm covered. We’ve even got a magnolia tree.
