St. Augustine 450th birthday celebration! The nation’s oldest city is celebrating in style with a 5-day citywide event! The celebration kicks off on Friday, September 4th at 3:00pm with FREE music and cultural performances on four downtown stages and national music acts on the main bayfront stage.
Saturday, September 5th the party continues at 11:00am with street and music festivals spanning the entire St. Augustine Historic District until 11:00pm.
Sunday, September 6th the street and music festival concludes with performances on the four downtown stages from noon to 2:00pm. Follow the party over to “The Island” AKA Anastiasa Island and join the EMMA Fiesta 450th beginning at 3:00pm at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre. Enjoy an afternoon and evening of entertainment showcasing St. Augustine’s Spanish Heritage.
*From 6:00pm – 7:30pm a VIP ticketed event (Only 100 tickets) will be held on the deck near the stage. Ticket includes hors d’oeuvres, wine, preferred seating and parking.
At 7:30pm enjoy the Evening Concert: Ensemble Espanol – the ensemble will perform all styles of Spanish dance – Flamenco, Classical Spanish Dance “Estilization, Folklore, 18th Century Dances, Ballet (Classical Dance) and Castanets.
Monday, September 7th from 12:00pm to 5:00pm, the eve of St. Augustine’s 450th anniversary, enjoy more music, a cake-cutting ceremony & Proclamation! This all takes place in the Gazebo in the Plaza de la Constituction.
Tuesday, September 8th 2015 is St. Augustine’s 450th Anniversary Day! Beginning at 7:45am a countdown clock ceremony at the Visitor Information Center will commence. Then, an authentic, historical re-enactment of Pedro Menendez’s landing takes place at the Mission Nombre de Dios. After, there is a procession to The Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine for a Commemorative Mass.
