St. Johns County is Fast Growing, Affluent and Educated
The St. Augustine Record reports St. Johns County is the wealthiest county in the state of Florida according to a national survey released this week. With 83,000 households recorded in St. Johns County the median income was over $70,000 dollars a year; over $11,000 from the prior year. St. Johns County has boasted lowest unemployment rates for years and now has climbed to the 2nd lowest in the state at 3.8%.
Experts hint that our economic success is partially due to the high education levels that many of our residents have earned. Of the 159,286 residents age 25 or older, about 45% were college graduates with a bachelor’s degree or higher. Florida overall has an income of $49,426 a year as of 2015 and considering that Florida was one of the states hardest hit by the economic crisis that’s a pretty great statistic.
