Believe it or not, the St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park is one of the most beloved St. Augustine Florida Attractions among visitors that come to the Old City. That is because the Alligator Farm in St. Augustine FL features more than just enormous reptiles and interesting birds and mammals, it is a clean, fun environment to watch wildlife and during tours you learn a lot! You can watch daily reptile and animal shows that run each day at various times throughout the day.
The Alligator Farm St. Augustine was arguably the first of the St. Augustine Florida Attractions to begin. It was in the late 19th century that two friends started the farm after they had collected alligators found on Anastasia Island. They grew over the decades and included new animals and different exhibits including crocodiles! Today, the St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park houses Albino alligators, Birds of Africa such as hooded vultures, red-ruffed lemurs, Komodo dragons, crocodiles, pythons and many other native reptiles and birds. There is a neat fossil exhibit you can check out as well as an exhibit devoted to Gomek, the 18 foot long, 2,000 pound large crocodile that once called the zoo home. Touring the St. Augustine Alligator Farm is one of the many popular St. Augustine Things to Do.
Are you ready for a thrill? The park recently added a zipline and now you can go check out this St. Augustine Zip Line and view the park from a different angle. Named Crocodile Crossing, the park's zipline stretches over seven acres and you'll see live alligators and crocodiles right under your dangling legs! It's a great way to get eye level with many of the park's birds and red-ruffed lemurs.
