I've been playing this course for twenty five years. Except for the first five years, the course is in the best shape it's been in a long time. But remember this is a public course not the ones you see on television where millions are spent on upkeep. I remember years ago Golf Digest remarked it was a hidden jewel.
Enjoyed the course , played after a weeks worth of rain so it was soggy. Staff very nice booked online and everything was ready when I arrived, course was pretty wide open and that fits my game , greens need some work but again I'm sure rain plays a major part of that . Would recommend to play and you can play here 3 times for the price of once up an exit at the resort. Well worth it !!
My wife and I, who are beginner golfers were in St Augustine for an anniversary weekend. We decided to play at St. John's and are glad we did. One of the nicest, well maintained public courses we have played on. Thanks to Hank, our starter for his help. Friendly guy and really enjoyed talking with him. Will definitely return.
I enjoyed this track and the people that run it. Always so nice and welcoming to me. For the money it's best value around. I moved away a while back and still drive a couple hours on the ocassional Sunday to play with friends.
I was there for my birthday dinner last night and got to see a group of nine deer cross the course. I really liked the laidback "non-stuffed shirt" atmosphere, the AYCE BBQ for $15 was priced right ! Not your typical Vegas Golf 19th hole. I plan on returning for the live music offering come October. Who knows, maybe I'll find a boyfriend.
A wonderful environment for anyone interested in playing the game of golf. If it's your first time there's clinics you can take to improve your golf game or even get a lesson. Everyone is excited to make sure you have a great experience. I truly enjoy being a part of it all.
