Hotel Ponce de Leon - Flagler College

Highlighting the
Architectural Heritage

Historic Tours of Flagler College created a virtual tour to highlight the architectural heritage of the former Hotel Ponce de Leon, listed as a National Historic Landmark. Built by railroad magnate, Henry M. Flagler in 1888, the Ponce is considered one of the finest examples of Spanish Renaissance architecture and was one of the most exclusive resorts of its day. About Flagler College

Don't Miss It!
We just walked into the common area. It is right downtown and easy to get to. We were unable to take the tour as it is only offered at 10 and 2 and they sell out quickly. The tour is the only way you get in to see the cafeteria. Take the time though to just walk inside the main area. Also there is a picture of Flagler on one of the tiles. One of the students showed us. Can you find it?
Highlight of our Trip
This was once the Hotel Ponse de Leon back in the Gilded Age. It has been beautifully maintained. We had a tour by a student and she was well versed in the architecture and designs of the building as well as sharing stories on life as a guest at the hotel back then and student life there currently. It is a must see!
Absolutely Stunning!

Tours today were only at 10:00 and 2:00....we missed them but still got to view the stunning lobby area. Flagler certainly knew how to build a magnificient hotel. The grounds of the college are equally amazing. If we come back, we will definitely get here at tour time.
Great Architecture
We visited Flagler College to learn more about the architecture and the Tiffany Windows there. The tour was conducted by one of the students and was affordable and informative. A good place to visit in St. Augustine.
Old World Grand Beauty
Tour guides are students who share the history of their school. The architecture is amazing! The dining room is so much like Hogworts they celebrate it annually
.
Wow! What a beautiful
place to go to university!

Abby and Blake (both seniors) did an excellent job providing our tour at Flagler College. They had plenty of information about historical facts and presented it with enthusiasm and humor. So pleased we did the tour.
